![]() ![]() Blight pumps greenhouse gasses into Hope Island to create localized global warming on the island to stop Gaia and the Planeteers from interfering with their plot to pollute the world. In the season one finale, Doctor Blight returns to kidnap Linka and encase Hope Island in a force field. Gi responds with, "If we pay attention to the past, the future doesn't have to repeat itself." They return to the future with the two Doctor Blights thanks to their actions, the villager's leg is miraculously back. They summon Captain Planet, and although Hitler's amount of hate weakens him, Cap lifts the bomb into the sky where it detonates. Just as the deal is about to go through, the Planeteers find Blight's time machine, and show up to stop it. Meanwhile, the two Doctor Blights get a meeting with Hitler (who has a stylish handlebar mustache for some reason) and convince him to buy their bomb. The Planeteers wander the jungle and meet a villager who's lost her leg from WWII landmines that are still active today. ![]() Keep in mind, this show was intended for kids under seven years old. The Planeteers follow Blight's ship through a thunderstorm, but are brought down by a lightning strike in the jungle. Ma-Ti reunites with his monkey friend, and Lori shoots a new commercial announcing that all her products are 100% cruelty-free.Īfter creating another time machine, Doctor Blight pulls a future version of herself back to the present to team and go back in time to sell nuclear weapons to Hitler and the Nazis during World War II. They summon Captain Planet who shuts down all the machines and frees the animals, locking Blight in her own animal restraints. They go to confront her, but Saunders quickly explains she would never authorize such a thing and leads the Planeteers to her lab, where Doctor Blight is experimenting on animals. Gaia sends the Planeteers to Doctor Rice's lab where the animals were stolen and they discover glowing footprints that Linka and Gi recognize as one of Lori Saunders' makeup products leading them to believe she is involved. She sends groups of thieves to zoos, research labs and other places to steal animals, even taking Ma-Ti's pet monkey to use them for experimental animal testing for a makeup entrepreneur, Lori Saunders who is actually firmly against animal testing. Once again, Doctor Blight has hatched an evil scheme, this time focusing on animals instead of the environment. The evil rings are destroyed and Commander Clash rallies the enemy soldiers to replant the forests they destroyed. He drags Captain Pollution through the elements of the Earth and forces him to surrender. Commander Clash - an ally to the Planeteers - explains the dangers of pollution to an enemy army that the pollutant villains have amassed, inspiring them to throw down their weapons just in time for Captain Planet to return and save the day. He gets into an epic battle with Captain Pollution, but is injured and weakened in the fight. The Planeteers work together to get their rings back and summon Captain Planet. By their evil powers combined, they create Captain Pollution, the evil version of Captain Planet. She hatches a plan with Verminous Skumm, Looten Plunder, Sly Sludge, and Duke Nukem (no, not that "Duke Nukem") to steal the Planeteers' rings and create evil alternate versions of them with the powers of Deforestation, Smog, Super Radiation, Toxics and Hate. ![]() "Mission to Save Earth" was the series' first two-part episode and the first major team-up of villains led by Doctor Blight.

That said, these beavers do have more advanced societal needs like socialization and creature (heh) comforts, which affect their “well-being” rating and therefore their productivity. Watching the beavers curl up on the ground is cute as hell. ![]() Image: TimberbornĪnd while I typically waste a lot of upfront time in colony-management sims building cozy lodgings - it depresses me to see anyone sleeping on the floor - Timberborn is the one exception. Of course, the carrot and potato farm I had meticulously laid out came good just a half day later. I didn’t realize it until only three beavers remained, two of which perished on their way to pick blueberry bushes, reducing my entire colony to one living child beaver. Within the hour of my first playthrough, I accidentally solved my beaver unemployment problem by having a mass die-out due to starvation. It’s a satisfying, at times punishing, balancing act. And then, of course, resources necessitate warehouses for storage, or they become raw ingredients for building or maintaining other processes. Rather than city-building alone, Timberborn’s colony management elements lean survival sim, requiring players to take care of food and water through farming and constructing water wheels, all while the river level shifts over the seasons. Super-intelligent beavers have evolved and formed “lumberpunk” societies, where timber is a core resource that powers farming, river control, and society growth. ![]() Timberborn takes place in a future version of our world where humankind has sapped planet Earth of her precious resources. As the game’s developer Mechanistry described it on its Twitch channel, in Timberborn “beavers either work or die.” The city-building sim has a cuddly exterior, but don’t let that fool you - it’s legitimately challenging. Beavers are nature’s builders, and in Timberborn, released on PC in Steam Early Access on Wednesday, players manage a colony of these industrious critters in a post-human world. ![]() Now people die to pvp in this game or in this generation and they just threaten your family or your life and get extremely mad. With version 2, Polytopia now makes more sense for iPad as well. But new and unique tribes with their own tech and distinct units shook things up further and the game’s relatively intuitive nature made it a good fit for iPhone. And the speedrun mode forced very different tactics from Civilization. It always looked different, with its low-poly visuals. However, Polytopia soon gained its own personality. The winner is the tribe with the highest score after 30 turns – or who unsportingly kills everyone else. By making good use of resources, you can research new technologies, thereby unlocking more powerful units. You get an isometric world and attempt to dominate in a turn-based manner. Initially, The Battle of Polytopia (originally Super Tribes) was akin to a stripped-back early entry in the classic Civilization series. You can also pay to unlock sections of the game if you’ve not yet found all the collectables required to proceed. IAPs: The £4.99/$4.99 premium option removes ads that occasionally appear. Combine that with a slew of secrets, plenty of variety (underwater sections a level set on a speeding train), and you’ve one of the finest mobile platforms you’re ever likely to see. But Super Cat Tales 2 revels in its perceived limitations, offering levels that require clever choreography to crack. The system is tricky to grasp at first, and you might initially hanker for a jump button. Two thumbs are also all you need to clamber up vertical surfaces, wall jump, and obliterate enemies using giant yellow tanks they’ve carelessly left lying about the place. Double-tap to start running, and automatically leap on reaching a platform’s edge. Hold the left or right side of the screen to head in that direction. Super Cat Tales 2 sidesteps all this by streamlining the entire control system to two buttons.Īs you belt through the game’s vibrant world, you grip your iPad with two hands. Given the difference in size between an iPad mini and the largest iPad Pro, on-screen controls only tend to work on all iPads if they’re fully configurable (rare) or you have banana fingers (hopefully more rare). Platform games on the iPad are something of a mixed bag, mostly because they tend to be so difficult to control. ![]() From 2002 onwards, Thierry Fahmy has focused his work on developing XLSTAT. The first message to ever be sent on a telegraph using Morse Code was “What hath God wrought”, which was a Biblical reference from the book of Numbers. Those signals would be transferred to another telegraph where another operator would wait to translate the code back into dots and dashes, then into the original message. Those messages would be transferred into electrical signals. A telegraph operator would enter the message through the series of dits and dahs (dots and dashes). Alfred Vail estimated the frequency of letters used in regular communications and assigned more common letters shorter codes in the Morse alphabet. The shorter signals are called dits and are represented by dots.Įach letter of the alphabet was assigned a specific, universal signal. The longer signals are called dahs and are represented by a dash. Now messages could be sent by using short and longer signals, and a combination of the two. He and Alfred Vail, his assistant at the time, developed Morse Code, a more efficient method, which received a patent in 1840. At the time this was the most efficient method of communicating words, but it was complicated.Įnter the American painter and inventor Samuel Morse.
